Help to Rebuild Old Syaphru Bensi
The devastating 7.8 and 7.3 magnitude earthquakes that hit Nepal on April 25 and May 12, 2015 have left the historic village of Old Syaphru Bensi in ruins. The homes of 104 local residents were reduced to piles of rubble, leaving them to reside in inadequate temporary shelters for the past nine months while awaiting slow-moving and ineffective assistance from the Nepali government.
The #RebuildOldSyaphru project is a local, community-based effort to provide the necessary planning and provisioning of materials to rebuild 22 homes in the village by the end of May 2016. Instead of waiting further on insufficient governmental assistance, local residents of Old Syaphru have banned together to rebuild their homes themselves with the few resources they have.
Your generous donations will be essential to purchasing raw materials that, along with salvaged and locally-sourced supplies, will be used to rebuild these homes with local labor.
